A Costa Rican Paradise!

What a busy summer it has been! Is anyone ready for this winter to come? Well I have a destination I want to tell you about. In June I had a great opportunity to visit Costa Rica. I do have to say it was one of the most exciting destinations I have been to. I think that’s partly because of the zip line experience I had. I’ll get into a little more details later.

Allow me to Welcome you to my wonderful Costa Rican trip!

Costa Rica’s two main beach destinations are the Tamarindo and the Papagayo area. Both were great to see, but it all really depends on what you’re looking for, and which area is the better fit for you. If you like to shop, surf, or go offsite to eat, Tamarindo is the place for you. If you’re more of a beach person and don’t like to go offsite, then the Papagayo is the place for you. Both areas have some great resorts, the only downfall with Costa Rica in my opinion, is that the beaches are public. This means the vendors will be sitting right on the beach. However, they were pretty good about not bothering you after you say no the first time.

If you asked me what resort is my favorite, I would have to say the Hilton Papagayo and The Riu Guanacaste.  Both are very different from one another. The Hilton is built in layers, making it a very unique hotel. I also loved the beach, it was a mix of golden sand and black sand. It wasn’t a very big beach, but they have some great pools as well.

The Riu Guanacaste was a great resort. I liked this resort because it had a very nice long beach and great pool areas. The rooms were great too, I particularly loved at atmosphere and how secluded this resort was. But truthfully I didn’t see a resort I wouldn’t stay at. They are all great; it’s just all about what you’re looking for.

Okay, now back to the zip lining.  This was the first time I had ever gone zip lining, and I’m afraid of heights, so I was very nervous. All my friends said I better not chicken out, and I almost did. However the staff members for the zip lining adventure are wonderful. Our first guide who taught us how to get on and off the line gave me a little “taxi ride”, meaning he hooked himself to me and told me to wrap my legs around him for safety. Our guide from then on slowly tried to get me to go by myself, and finally by the third line I was flying above the trees by myself.  At the last line I was very sad it was all over, and I was actually ready to go again! We also did a volcanic mud bath with hot springs; this was a blast too.

I might look terrified, but that’s only because I was!….

So if you are thinking about a Costa Rican Vacation let me know, I’ll be more than happy to help you plan your dream vacation!
