I arrived to Montego Bay on a gorgeous day in the middle of June, ready to tackle an 8 day road trip across Jamaica, touring all of the Sandals and Beaches Resorts. I’ve split the trip up into cities to keep my (and your!) brain slightly organized…doing so much in so little time can definitely get confusing!
We went to three different Sandals Resorts in Montego Bay. Most are just a quick 10 minute drive from the airport which is great when you are ready to hit the beach! Here we got to explore some of the downtown area where there is plenty of shopping and nightlife, just a few steps from the Sandals Carlyle. Best part of having 3 Sandals Resorts in Montego Bay is, Stay at One, Play at 3!
Ocho Rios was the highlight of my trip to Jamaica. Why?? My butler, Jazelle, really made that possible! Yes, I did say butler!! At Sandals Grande Riviera I had the pleasure of experiencing butler service firsthand. I stayed in a villa where I had an almost private pool (it was shared with 3 other couples) and was driven around by Jazelle on a jitney (a golf cart type vehicle). I never thought I was the type of traveler that required a butler, boy was I wrong! He anticipated my every need. We also had the BEST Chinese food ever at one of the restaurants, China Doll. And with 14 more restaurants at the resort we were never running out of something good to eat!
Whitehouse, Jamaica is a tiny little fishing village with a HUGE resort located right in the area, Sandals Whitehouse. This was my favorite resort. The beach was amazing, and the food tasted even better than all the rest… I didn’t even know that would be possible! What I loved about this resort, other than the service, was the location of this resort. You are able to watch the sunrise and sunset. My second favorite feature was no reservations required at any of the restaurants.
From the resort we also did two tours. The Black River Rafting Tour and YS Falls. The YS Falls is a beautiful waterfall and natural spring pool. You are also able to go tubing or zip lining here. I chose to explore the waterfalls and took in the natural beauty, but those zip liners sure looked like they were having quite the time too!
Negril is home to the 7-Mile Beach, one of the prettiest beaches I have ever been to. The sunsets overlooking the ocean were such a wonderful end to this fabulous trip. Six of seven restaurants at the Sandals Negril had an ocean view, so we couldn’t avoid it even if we wanted to! Beaches Negril has an AWESOME water park we were also able to enjoy. We were able to spend some time in the lazy river and work on our tans which was wonderful and relaxing! Not to mention the self-serve ice cream machine readily available.
After all the fun, it was good-bye Jamaica and back to Fargo… Can’t wait to go again!
